Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the studio.

Time

This photo was taken at night time inside the studio.

Lighting

I wanted to show a unique side of my model using two studio lights. I decided to put my light at the leftside and one portrait light infront. Using a gray backdrop I match with the dress with the model and lights.

Equipment

I am using Nikon D5, Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 Lens, Studio Lights

Inspiration

I just wanted my portrait photo to be simple and ask my model to emote (different expression). To achieved different composition I tried to shoot different angle and be aware where the lights is coming from.

Editing

I used Lightroom CC for post-processing. I used it to enhance some part of the picture but not over. I used it change the color, saturation and highlights.

In my camera bag

For this type photo I always have my D4 or D5 and my lens 24-70mm f/2.8, 70-200mm f/2.8 especially for portrait shoot. I bring my flash just incase I need it. With this two lens I can do a lot of style of photos that you wanted to achieve. If you have a prime lens is much better.

Feedback

I like portraiture because it is bit challenging for me because you have to have to get the correct lighting, expression and angle that you wanted to accomplish. Sometimes you have to think out the box how your pictures will look like. Secondly the appearance of your subject or model because one of the factors that I always check is the shadow if I need for my picture or not. Lastly try to shoot different angles and you have to play with your light source because it will affect the appearance, especially if your subject have double chin.
