Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo football field at Oswego East High School in Oswego Illinois.

Time

It was just prior to start of the second half of the football game. The Oswego Wolves football team was warming up just as the Super Moon started to rise. It was around 8pm.

Lighting

Aside from the stadium light the only other light was the moon itself.

Equipment

Canon 7D Mark II, SIgma 70-200mm lens.

Inspiration

At the last second I decided to try for a shot of the moon. The Oswego Wolves Varsity team was doing warm-ups prior to the second half of the game. Just as I was setting up the shot the team started running towards the moon and howling like wolves.

Editing

I used Camera Raw in Photoshop to make minor adjustments to eliminate some noise but that was really it.

In my camera bag

I always have my Canon 7d Mark II and my Sigma 24-70mm 2.8 and 70-200mm 2.8 lenses. The glass is fast and I always get pretty good sports shots with both. Recently I added an Canon R6 to the bag and can't wait to use it for sports shots with it's 20 fps.

Feedback

Always look around, you never know what interesting subject is just going to popup out of nowhere. Don't be afraid to point and shoot, sometimes the best photos are the ones not planned.
