Location
This photo was taken from a hot air balloon during ride near Goreme town in Cappadocia, Turkey.Time
It was just after sunrise as this is the time when balloons usually take off there.Lighting
As it was very early in the morning the light was very warm what compliments this rocky and sandy landscape.Equipment
As I was shooting from a hot air balloon I didn't use tripod this time. Only my Canon 5D MK IV camera with a wide angle lens attached to it.Inspiration
Ever since I heard (and seen photos in National Geographic Magazine) about balloon flights in Cappadocia, many many years ago I wanted to take a photo with dozens of them in the frame flying over rugged landscape.Editing
I applied some minor post-processing in Capture One - mainly to even out the exposure and make sure no highlights are clipped. I also slightly increased the global contrast and added some vignette to attract attention to the centre of the frame. In my camera bag
Normally I have one or two camera bodies (usually Canon 5D MK IV and some backup camera), ultra-wide angle lens, standard zoom and tele zoom. Additionally, I always have a tripod, rectangular filters, a bunch of batteries and memory cards.Feedback
Even if you won't be able to afford balloon flight (this can be quite expensive although there are some cheaper options too) there are plenty of hills and high vantage points in the area that can offer quite similar perspective. Just make sure to be on the spot very early (to "reserve" that best spot) as it can get really crowded as the sun starts to rise.
