Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken during our family vacation in Florida. We had just arrived in Hollywood Beach for a few nights, before flying over to Curacao.

Time

This picture was taken just after lunch, when the sun was still very high in the sky. There was no need for tripod, due to the high amount of light coming in.

Lighting

Lighting was very hard due to the time of the day, but that also led to a faster shutter speed, which ultimately meant a sharper image and no need for tripod.

Equipment

Shot on a Nikon D3100, my first DSLR, as well as a CPL filter.

Inspiration

I really like to take pictures of the shoreline, because that reminds me of good times spent during our vacations. This one is definitely among my favourites.

Editing

The only post-processing used on this picture was a bit of lighting corrections, such as decreasing the highlights and improving shadows.

In my camera bag

Besides the camera, I always carry a few filters with me, a tripod, chargers, hoods and also a wide-angle lens to capture the landscapes.

Feedback

Not always you have to wait for the golden hour in order to take a good picture. This one is a good example of how you can achieve nice results with the "wrong" lighting. After all, you should always carry you camera around for good oportunities.
