Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at a hotel in Macau. It's a nice cozy place with an amazing view and with an all decor replicating the city of Prague. So it gives it an unusual European look in a Chinese city.

Time

This was taken in the early morning making use of the natural light that entered from the big window.

Lighting

Besides the natural light, I used a normal camera Speedlight out of the camera so I could get enough light to "freeze" a bit the movement of the clothing.

Equipment

Camera: Canon 7D MkII Lens: Canon 24mm F2.8 (pancake lens) Flash: Canon 600EX-RT

Inspiration

the clothing and scenery

Editing

I did some small light and color adjustment only and reduced a little some "noise" on the photo.

In my camera bag

It depends on what I am doing. Usually when i am unsure I take my 24-105 Sigma Art lens for overall shooting and a couple of primes like the 24 2.8 and 50 1.4. Depending on space i might also take a Tokina 11-16mm 2.8 (not perfect but goes well in tight situations).

Feedback

Try to make sure that you have enough light to use a slightly faster shutter to "freeze" the movement and that you also have some brightness on the back and front of the model. Shoot into a dark background would lose all the effect.
