I shot this with my NikonD600, 50mm lens, manual.Inspiration
I took this photo because I needed a new head shot for my website, and I don't particularly like photos of myself, so I hid behind my camera.Editing
I did minimal post-process editing to this, just slight shadow/highlight/tone adjustments in Lightroom.In my camera bag
I always have my NikonD600 body (and a smaller back-up) and the lens I love the most is my Nikkor 50mm 1:1.8G. I use it whenever I can, which is most of the time. It is my go-to for photographing people and also wedding details (jewelry, cakes, etc.) For landscape photography I mainly use my Nikkor 24-85mm lens. Sometimes for vast landscapes or skyscapes I bust out my Nikkor 17-35mm lens. For photographing wildlife I almost always use my Nikkor 70-300mm lens, simply because I can shoot without getting too close to scare the animals away. If I could get close enough to an animal I would prefer to shoot with my 50mm.Feedback
I think capturing a shot like this is fairly simple and straightforward, just frame it how you want it (I avoid cropping when I can), make sure it is focused on what you want in focus, and snap the shutter. ;)
