Location
The photograph was taken in Cyprus, the location was in field just off one of the beaches, it was a side shot and totally unplanned, the lighting just looked right and it was one of the last few photographs before we called it a dayTime
It was late afternoon, I guess the golden hour, weather was perfect with a light breeze, and still warm enough to comfortable for the model.Lighting
The lighting is all natural, no reflectors or fill in flash was used, being backlit it ligting created the beautiful natural warm glowEquipment
I have been Sony's for many years, going back to the Nex 7 which I bought because I loved it's small size and the ability to carry the camera without the weight of a DSLR. On this occasion I used my SONY ILCE-7RM3, with an aperture of f/2.5,?ISO 50,?Shutter 1/500 and the Sony 85mm f/1.4Inspiration
The warm evening sunlight, the cool breeze and a willing model was the perfect combination for this shot, whilst it was unplanned after a long days shoot, the opportunity was obvious and could not help one last photo for the day, which happened to have all the ingredients to make it a perfect shot.Editing
As I shoot raw, I will always use lightroom to correct the colours, contrast and saturation, however in this instance I did very little post processing as there was very no need to enhance the colours beyond the basic settings. In my camera bag
I normally carry two camears, the Sony A7RM3 and and A7S as a backup, which i have never had to use but I dread the thought that if the A7RM3 was to fail, I would not have any other choice but to abandon the shoot. On shoots I normally carry 3 lenses, the Sony 35mm f1.8, Sony 85mm 1.4 and Sony 70mm - 200mm f2.8, these are may main 3 lenses, although I also like to occasionally experiment with my Sony 12mm to 24mm f4 lens, although I use this sparingly as being such a wide angle lens it is prone to distoritionFeedback
Don't be scared to shoot into the sun, the chances are that 90% of the shots will be unusable, but you only need one great shot to make the day
