Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at Nathan Phillips Square, Toronto, Canada. I was walking around this area one evening after my work. Usually I carry my camera in my backpack.

Time

This was taken in August 2019, around 5.00 pm.

Lighting

I remember taking this photo during summer around evening time, so the lightning was nice , kind of golden light. This was clicked with available light without any flash or additional setup. Plus her bright red top well complimented this shot.

Equipment

This was clicked using my Panasonic GH4 mirroless camera with Panasonic Lumix G Vario 100-300mm f/4-5.6 II POWER O.I.S. Lens. No Flash, no tripod. Just shot with hand held.

Inspiration

I saw this elderly lady with full of energy and passion taking Toronto City Hall building in different compositions using her smart phone. After watching her some time, I was literally marveled by the the level of enthusiasm and energy she possesses. Looks like she is tourist who came with her husband. Her husband is bit impatient may be they need to catch their sight seeing tour bus on-time and insisting her to finish her click quick. But she was like a kid on a swing in a park who doesn't want to get off until it become full dark.

Editing

Yes this was bit processed in Adobe Lightroom, just to tweak some contrast and sharpening. I deliberately did selective dodge tool to brighten her smart phone screen to bring more attention to the buildings what she was capturing.

In my camera bag

I usually carry most of the time my Panasonic GH4 Camera in my backpack with my staple lens Panasonic 12-35mm f2.8. I also carry occasionally my other camera Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II and second lens either Olympus 75mm (or) Panasonic 100-300 f/4.5-6. I am glad that day I was carrying this tele photo lens, so I was able to click this shot without going close to her and disturbing her shoot experience.
