This alpine scene resembles the time I spent as a teen, skiing and hiking in Austria and Switzerland. However, you can find these sweeping alpine views with snow capped peaks, towering conifers and wild flowers right here in our own Olympic National Park, on Hurricane Ridge just west of Seattle, Washington. Hurricane Ridge is a wonderfully unique region in the central part of the park which creates its own weather and is home to a plethora of flora and fauna. This photo was captured in a wild flower meadow, overlooking these beautiful snow-capped mountains. If you have the opportunity to visit Olympic National Park, a hike to Hurricane Ridge is a “must see” location, in addition to the Hoh Rain forest, Rialto Beach, and Cape Flattery areas in and around Olympic National Park.
