Location
I took this photo from the 17th floor balcony of my apartment in Shanghai, China.Time
This was taken on July 13, 2019 at 10:03 AM. I generally go out on the weekends to visit tourist attractions but it was a gloomy Saturday and I was bored to death. I used to live in Xuhui, a core urban district of Shanghai and there is always something interesting on the streets so I took my camera out and I was lucky to get some nice photos from my balcony.Lighting
It was a bit dark, overcast and nothing interesting as far as lighting is considered but I guess the tarmac and small puddles on it reflecting the sky created a nice background for the image.Equipment
This was shot using a Canon EOS 60D with EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens.Inspiration
On that day, the street was unusually crowded and I could see plenty of umbrellas from top view against a tarmac background.Editing
All my photos are cropped to 16:9 aspect ratio. Once I was happy with the composition, I reduced the highlights and slightly colour corrected the image in Photoshop using LUTs.In my camera bag
I usually carry my Canon EOS 60D with Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS, a variable ND filter and TRIOPO M2508+D-2A professional aluminium alloy tripod.Feedback
Aerial views are always interesting and if you are trying minimalism in aerial view, I think, an umbrella is the best prop.
