Behind The Lens
Location
This was in a guest house that we stayed in very close to the Hartbeespoort Dam in North West, South Africa. We had a weekend photography road trip.Time
This was taken after 5 pm in the "Golden Hour", we were too tired to leave the house, and there was a lot of natural light coming in from the panoramic windows in the dining area. .Lighting
The room was located on the first floor and had windows letting in a lot of natural light.Equipment
I mostly capture the world with a Canon 700D, viewing everything with my trusty Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8 pancake lens.Inspiration
The piano looked forgotten and broken, It almost looked like it was placed to fill the room. I wanted to capture the lost art of the piano. I played around with angle and depth to move the focus on the piano.Editing
All my post-production is done in Lightroom, I will sort it and marked the rejected once I don’t like. Then I will go through the once I like, one by one cropping and aligning if necessary, applying presets and adjusting until the image appears the way I had envision it.In my camera bag
The bag I have is a Tamrac Velocity 8X bag, I find this bag work excellent while hiking or riding on my motorcycle in search of landscape to capture. In it I pack my Canon 700D this is not my best camera body, it's my only camera body. Then my Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8, Canon 10-18mm EF-S f/4.5-5.6 IS STM Lens, these two are all I need to capture almost anything, Then I have extra batteries and cards, lens cleaning kit, battery charger and power bank.Feedback
I think what makes this photo is the light and focus point. So for me, the most important things are timing, patients, and experimenting, and it also helps if you know your camera.
