Location
The family I was shooting has an amazing trail right behind their house. We followed the trail until it opened up into this beautiful open field.Time
I took this one summer evening. The sun doesn’t usually set this time of year until about 9pm. So around 6pm the sun was a little harsher than I normally like but we found the perfect shaded spot!Lighting
I wanted the boy to be highlighted but have that vintage look of a child just enjoying being a kid. It’s almost nostalgic and the natural light helped bring my vision to life.Equipment
For this particular shot I used my Nikon D750 and my 50mm lens.Inspiration
I wanted to capture the nostalgia of childhood. Often times as adults we forget that life should be fun. And we should enjoy it as much as we can.Editing

I usually have my D750, 70-200mm and 50mm lens. I also make sure I bring my off camera flash along with my reflectors.Feedback
When getting the natural smiles and laughter from kids, I use a lot of prompts or jokes. I tell them to run around and play with their parents and act like I am not around. This makes things fun and not so structured.
