Location
Caesar's Palace Casino Resort, Las Vegas, NV. Walking across the sky-bridge into the north entrance to the resort.Time
Early morning, about 25 minutes after sunrise.Lighting
Golden hour was casting a warm glow onto the dome leaving soft shadows to highlight the architectural intricacies. In the background, the light had not yet illuminated the hotel wing with its deep blue color. Really liked the complimentary colors, warm, soft, lighting.Equipment
Hand held Nikon D800e with a Nikon 70-200 lens.Inspiration
The composition of the arch of the dome vs. rectangular windows of the background building, complimentary colors, and lighting on the dome during early morning sun. The skybridge at the entrance broke up the symmetry, so compositionally, I chose only the dome and it's background.Editing
Adobe Camera Raw adjustments for brightness/contrast, exposure, a little saturation. I used a landscape pre-set in Luminar software to complete the image. In my camera bag
I carry two packs; one with a Nikon D800e with a Nikon 70-200mm lens in one and Nikon D850 with a Nikon 14- 24mm wide angle lens in the other. Extra camera batteries, Hitech ND filters, lens brush and cleaning fluid, cloth, tripod (depending of lighting or type of image ...long exposure, low light, etc...) cable release.Feedback
In Las Vegas, rising early is not all that easy...but if you want to beat the crowds, get the best light on the west side of Las Vegas Blvd. gotta set the alarm! This image would not have the same impact with harsh light because you would be dealing with difficult shadows, glare from windows, etc. Compositionally framing the image with a somewhat "minimalist" goal, becomes important. Removing "distractions" is significant in maximizing the impact of the subject. This is not always the case, but to get this type of look, it became part of the formula.
