Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at home in my garden in our above ground framed pool. The kids LOVE the window in it and are always going under water to wave at us and make faces

Time

It would have been in the afternoon in the summer whilst the sun was still quite high.

Lighting

This is a natural light photo, so only available light was used to capture this shot.

Equipment

Nikon d850, 24mm f1.4 Handheld

Inspiration

I love to document my kids as they won’t stay kids forever. Capturing the everyday is just as important as capturing special occasions as the everyday is always changing, and in time it’s great to look back at the memories.

Editing

I shoot in raw, so I upload images to adobe lightroom and use presets to get a base to the image. Once I’m happy with this I tend to adjust the sliders according to what I think suits the image. For this image I adjusted the clarity in the window area to enhance the details in the water.

In my camera bag

My Nikon d850 and d810. I also have Nikon 24mm, 50mm 80mm all f1.4 Sigma art 35mm f1.4 Lensbaby with edge 35mm I also occasionally shoot with my Nikon 45mm ts lens And have 2 Nikon zooms 24-70 and 70-200 both f2.8 I very rarely use a tripod

Feedback

Anything that is shot underwater will have a softer focus feel to it, so a trick to sharpen the image is to slide the clarity and texture up in post production.
