I hear a song. I read a book. I look at colors, flowers, ponds and nature. A fish in the park pond swimming smoothly making shapes in the water. Then I close my eyes and these come up with my visual stories. I layer them on top of reality, sprinkling feminism and female power and happiness by recreating the world around me. The photographic process can then start: I plan the gathering of all the picture elements needed to build the images that already live in my mind’s eye. Here, I wanted to show smoothness of a female presence shown by the hats and the dress, its boldness with big hats shaped like flowers and the female power and use the fish as an ancient symbol. These images are therefore snapped way before the camera sees them. And the magic that sometimes happens on the day of the actual shoot is the spice in my final product.
