Location
This was taken in Etosha, Namibia. I was there about three years ago and can not wait to get back.Time
I was driving around trying to spot some animals but being midday many were seeking shade and cooler spots, but luckily there were still a few giraffes grazing.Lighting
Midday lighting is never great, but sometimes you have to make it work. I think the lighting adds to the extreme conditions.Equipment
This was just a camera and a longish lens, hand held... no special tricks on this one.Inspiration
I liked the way the giraffes were bending down to graze, as I haven’t seen that often. Normally they’re reaching up to pull leaves off some tree branches. So I waited till this particular one bent over to create this arch.Editing
Just come small color correction, contrast and saturation. In my camera bag
At the moment I have a Nikon D850, Tamron 15-30mm, Nikkor 70-200mm, Tokina 100mm, Nikkor 50mm, Laowa 25mm macro, Nikkor 28-70mm, NiSi ND filters, remote trigger, Sirui Tripod, cleaning kit, extra batteries and cards.Feedback
I always try and make the best of each situation. You can’t have golden hour every hour so why not try and make something of the current lighting, focus on composition, and be creative.
