The Border

The Canadian border in Northwest Montana. This remote part of the Canada-U.S. border is not often seen, and it surprises many to learn that it is literally a well-maintained clear-cut even in the rough terrain of the Northern Rockies.

This photo was taken while I was working for the United States Forest Service, where we took great care to communicate with DHS-border patrol prior to doing maintenance work in sensitive areas such as this. The northern border is actively and remotely monitored by carefully hidden sensors and surveillance equipment, which leaves you with the eerie sensation of being watched even though you're 30 miles from the nearest town.
