Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo of Dora in our living room. She was perched up on her kitty tree that sits in a North window of our home.

Time

A mid afternoon shot, natural window light.

Lighting

I love natural light, it captures her wide eyed expression. If I used a flash, she would of closed her eyes.

Equipment

My Canon T5I, used my 55-250 lense. No flash, natural window light. Handheld, used sport mode.

Inspiration

I love taking photos of Dora, she is a beautiful cat. I get a lot of compliments on her from family and friends. Dora is a rescue kitty.

Editing

Dora has green eyes with little squiggles!, I just sharpened a tiny bit, made it black and white and enhanced the green a little to focus on her eyes.

In my camera bag

My camera bag is always packed with my regular Canon 18-55 mm lens as well with 55-250, Stigma 10 - 20 mm, I take them all! As well as my portrait lens, cleaners, brushes, etc and tip cards! Extra charged batteries too.

Feedback

As you know when photographing pets, patience pays off! You have to be quick! Short attention spans. I usually know Dora's habbits, so when I get my camera, I have it all set up, this particular shot was hand held, I was quick to capture her, I made sure she got some treats for a job well done!
