Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the garden section that surrounds the statues of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse at the center of Disneyland.

Time

The photo was taken at 1:31 pm on a partly cloudy Wednesday afternoon.

Lighting

All natural light used. The day was partly cloudy and the sun was behind some clouds when I snapped the picture.

Equipment

iPhone 8+ on portrait mode. Flash was not used

Inspiration

I've been wanting to go to Disneyland with my camera to see what kind of pictures I can capture. I brought my Nikon D500 and enjoyed the day as I searched for different perspectives of a place where 1000's of images are taken everyday. This flower caught my eye because I didn't recall ever seeing it before. It's position in the flowerbed made it difficult to take the picture with the D500, but my iPhone was perfect

Editing

No post processing was used.

In my camera bag

I travel light and heavy at the same time. On a typicaly day i have my Nikon D500, Nikkor 24-70 2.8 and Nikkor 70-200 2.8. If I am shooting wildlife, I will mount the Nikkor 200-500 5.6 to the D500 and put the other two in the bag. If I am landscape shooting, I will leave the 24-70 and 200-500 at home and mount my Tokina 11-18 2.8 to the camera. I always have my 70-200 with me as I find it versatile.

Feedback

The best advice I was given was "Equipment doesn't matter." Understand composition, the basic fundamentals, continue to learn, think outside the box, be creative and break the rules when the situation demands it.
