Great composition. There is a contest called composing with arches, I think this photo will do great.
See all

Behind The Lens

Location

Fort Pulaski. Georgia

Time

3 pm

Lighting

The fort is quite dim, as you might imagine. However, a sliver of daylight did peek through the openings on the sides of the fort, allowing for proper exposure of the cannon.

Equipment

Nikon D7000. 16-85 be Nikon lens

Inspiration

Historic site with tons of detail in the fort and its confines

Editing

Not much. Several different crops and a tiny bit of levels adjustment, almost straight out of the camera

In my camera bag

I have 1 dslr and two mirrorless systems. Nikon D7000 with 16-85, 70-300 and Sigma 10-20, Tamron 28-75 I have a Fuji xt20. 18-135 I have Olympus em10 ii. 30 mm prime, 14-150 Tamron and 75-300 olympus

Feedback

Look for the macro composition. Seeing the arch was interesting, but multiple arches really enhanced the photo. Ask others in your group what they see. Take their suggestions as a starting point and enhance the photo and their suggestions by trying more creative compositions and lighting scenarios
