Behind The Lens

Location

The picture was taken on my upstairs deck just outside the glass sliding doors. The bird had flown into the glass and was momentarily stunned.

Time

I took this picture around the middle of the day

Lighting

The only lighting was normal daylight. By afternoon this side of the house is out of direct sunlight.

Equipment

I used a Canon PowerShot SX60 HS, hand held.

Inspiration

This is a very small bird, about 3 inches or 75 cm. They are difficult to capture clearly as they flit about in the trees around the house. When this one flew into the glass I took the opportunity to get up close without having to compromise sharpness using excessive zoom.

Editing

Just a little bit of cropping.

In my camera bag

My camera sits beside me at the table. I can see the birds in the trees outside. I don't use a tripod as it takes to long to set up and the shot is usually gone. However, I have 3 spare batteries on full charge.

Feedback

Be observant. Watch what the birds are doing. Take lots of shots.
