Behind The Lens

Location

Bandujo is a medieval town located in the central mountains of Asturias. The photo is taken in the month of April, at sunset, before the sun set over the mountains and its shadows covered the town.

Time

The photo is taken at sunset, before the sun set behind the mountains and just when its light falls on the town, highlighting the color and textures of the stone.

Lighting

Being a town surrounded by mountains it is very important to take the photo at the correct time because if the sun sets behind the mountain the shadows cover the town. It is just at that moment when the sunlight illuminates the stone.

Equipment

The photo is taken with an Olympus equipment, Olympus OMD EM5 MARK 2 camera, Zuiko 12-40 PRO lens at 24 mm, F: 8 and 1/125. It is a panoramic photo of three vertical shots.

Inspiration

Although it is not too far from my house, 1 hour apx, I did not know this town until I saw it in a newspaper, it caught my attention, I looked for photos of the place and planned the visit. Fortunately I got the photo I wanted on the first try because the light accompanied. I have a night visit pending that I will try soon.

Editing

the photo is processed with adobe lightroom, and only has small general adjustments: brightness, contrast, warmth ... I like natural photos without great processing effects.

In my camera bag

I currently use an olympus equipment composed of an OMD EM5 MARK II camera, Zuiko Digital lenses: 12-40 PRO f: 2.8, 9-18 f: 4-5.6, 75 f: 1.8, and Panasonic 45-200 f: 4-5.6, Haida and Hitech filters, Manfrotto tripod.

Feedback

The most important thing in landscape photography in my opinion is planning, knowing the place, knowing where the sun, moon or stars rises and sets ... go early to find the frame calmly and above all enjoy of the landscape and nature.
