Location
This photo was captured in a Barn at Castleward in Northern Ireland if your a game of thrones fan it is otherwise know and winter-fell. I wanted to get close without upsetting the birds so found myself propped between the wall and a beam.Time
The image was captured in early afternoon. I shot without the flash instead reflected some of the natural light using some foil.Lighting
I used Tin foil to reflect the natural light back onto the subjectEquipment
I used a canon 60D with 18-400mm Tameron lens I decided to not use a flash but instead play about with the natural light using foil to bounce the natural light back into the nest. The image was captured free hand as I had to get into a tight space.Inspiration
How could you not want to capture something so beautiful. I had sat watching as mum and dad kept coming back and forth with food for there young. I could hear the babies and figured out a way to get close without upsetting them.Editing
I chose not to edit the image I i was happy with how it looked sometimes I can be a bit of a perfectionist and over thinking or process so went with my gut.In my camera bag
My Friends and family call me the bag lady lol. I normally have everything but the kitchen sink but I normally have prime lens, wide angle flash, Tripod with triggers for off and on camera flash. As well as my Gimble.Feedback
I always think it’s best to watch for a while figure out what is going on and how to approach it before you shoot. As photographers we are there to document nature and share the beauty we see with our cameras without disturbing or damaging anything. We are privileged being able to love what we do and share it with others.
