After 4 days of constant driving, hiking and shooting landscapes, with only 3-4 hours sleep each night, we were absolutely wrecked. For a physical but also mental health, we decided to have longer sleep. Condition was... if there is a bad weather next day. Lucky for us, clouds were very low and it was also raining. Visibility was very poor too, so we could finally rest. We went shooting waterfalls later that day but we couldn't really wait for afternoon treat -Kallur lighthouse and cliff on Kalsoy.
To get to Island of Kalsoy you need catch a ferry in Klaksvik. It's only 30 min across the water which by the way was very calm for our entire visit in Faroes. There is only one road, so it's quite easy to get to the point of interest. We naturally stopped few times on our way. Dispite lovely sunshine, clouds were still very low, covering most of the summits. That didn't bother us too much and we continued our trip to small village on the end of Kalsoy called Trøllanes. From there, it was only 30-40 min, not very challenging hike and we were here. Oh my ...what a place!!! We walked around for a good hour just to look at it from every perspective. The size of the place is enormous. If you decided to place a person in this frame it would just disappear. We were there quite early so we sat on the cliff and enjoyed the view, taking shots from time to time as light was changing. Around 1h before set we were ready. It cleared but there was still a lot of massive clouds rolling on the sky. It all looked like big boiling pot. Cliff wasn't so much green yet but I think it was too early for it. Sun was setting behind our back, giving nice glow to the clouds and the mountain. Again we were lucky to start shooting early as sunset itself was very pale. This is something we have noticed at all locations. The last minutes of light weren't very impressive. It was quite windy so we had to be carefull. I dropped my camera twice on this location damaging 2 of my filters but I think that was minimum punishment I could possibly get for not paying attention. In order to photograph such a huge place I had to do 3 vertical shots at 19mm and stiched them in pano.
