Behind The Lens

Location

This photo is taken in the southern most part of Sweden. Very close to Smygehuk.

Time

I think this is taken some time around mid day on the 7th of December with a spotty cloud cover.

Lighting

its all natural mid day lighting. as much light as we get around midday in December.

Equipment

I used a Canon EOS R with a Canon FD 50mm f/1.2 lens which is a very soft lens wide open but have a very characteristic rednering especially the bokeh. shot it handheld looking through the fully articulate back screen in portrait orientation. Didin't manage to get it in the first shots but perhaps on the fifth or sixth try i manage to freeze the moment with. i used small rocks thrown with my other hand.

Inspiration

I think i just wanted some movement in the frame and also was trying out the lens that I recently had recieved. ANd this shot came out better than I had hoped for.

Editing

I don't exacly remember my work flow when this photo was taken but I don't edit my photos that much. A little more contrast and added some vignetting and probably did some sharpening on the water splash to make it more eye life like since the lens is quite soft.

In my camera bag

Now days I normally carry a Leica Q2 and a Fujifilm X Pro3 with a 50mm and a 75mm lens. Can get most king of shots with that. ALso started to carry an Aputure light. never know when you need some light. I also carry extra batteries for both cameras and have some macro diopters for the Q2.

Feedback

i think the best advice i can give is just to try everything. If a thought regarding a composition is creeping into your consciousness just try it out. I myself still from time to time reject these thought too quickly and have for sure missed many awesome photos. photography is about experience things and discovering. Be a photography explorer you will find much happiness.
