Kestrels are fairly common in the UK and can often be seen hovering by the roadside looking for the small rodents they love to hunt. This shot was taken at the Birds of Prey Centre and is the first time I had seen a kestrel close up. Beautiful birds - it was a cold day and she had fluffed out her feathers to keep warm.
