Location
This photo is taken on a autumn night in Wanaka, New Zealand.Time
I took this photo just after the blue hour of the night.Lighting
The tree was lit from the Wanaka city lights as well as the stars in the night sky.Equipment
I used my canon 6d ii with a canon 70-200m f4 lens.Inspiration
This is quite a popular tourist attraction in Wanaka which I visited during the day and sunset, there was so many people around and i felt everyone was getting the same shot. So i returned later that night to get a night shot of the tree, it was much quieter, I only saw one other photographer who was out doing the same thing. I was really happy with the colors in the image as it looks unique and elegant.Editing
I don't like to do a lot in post because I believe it takes away from the natural beauty of the image. For example for this image I adjusted the exposure, crop and horizon line. I then made sure the warm and cool tones looked there best together and I was happy with the final outcome. In my camera bag
I'm a student so I'm limited in what gear I actually own. I have my 6dii, 50mm 1.8, cheap tripod as well as my Nisi 10 stop filter and V6 filter holder which I use with my flatmates lens or one which I borrow from the school. By the end of the year I'm hoping to save for a 24-70mm 2.8. I also have muesli bars with me.Feedback
Night photos to me are all about patience and being at the right place at the right time, I still have heaps to learn!
