Great shot! Love Ronda!

Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo from a viewing terrace in the town of Ronda, Andalusia, Spain.

Time

This photo was taken at sunset.

Lighting

As soon as I got to the location I was greeted with overcast sky, strong wind and light rain. So I didn't expect anything good happening. The time of the sunset was getting closer and I started to loose hope (and patience as it was really unpleasant weather). But then out of the sudden the magic happened - a bit of sunlight appeared what created amazing and colorful spectacle in the clouds!

Equipment

I used Canon 5D MK IV with a Canon 24-105 f/4 lens on a tripod.

Inspiration

I had visited the same spot earlier in the day and I had imagined how it would look with gorgeous clouds behind the bridge. So I chose it as my location for sunset shooting. And after all, it didn't disappoint.

Editing

As always I did some post-processing but not much in this image. I mainly pulled some shadows to reveal detail in them. I also slightly increased general contrast and colour saturation.

In my camera bag

I usually have my Canon 5D MK IV as my main camera, 5D MK III as a backup, several lenses (ultra-wide angle zoom, wide angle prime, standard zoom and tele zoom), tripod, a bunch of filters (polarizer, neutral density grads), several batteries and a lot of memory cards.

Feedback

When doing landscape photography - never loose hope and leave early even if the light is dull and the sky cloudy and boring. I witnessed some of the best light just after or just before the rain.
