Taken Olympus hosted event at a bar called "Dig-A-Pony" in SE Portland. The local camera store, Pro Photo Supply, brought in two models for everyone to photograph.Time
The event began at around 7:00PM and this photo was taken roughly an hour and a half into the event. It was still Winter so it had already been dark outside for a while.Lighting
If I remember correctly they had a single light set up in front and to the right of the model, otherwise it was just ambient lighting.Equipment
I had my recently acquired Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II with an Olympus M.Zuiko 12-40mm f2.8 mounted on it. No camera flash.Inspiration
A local camera store, Pro Photo Supply, had sponsored an event with Olympus Cameras to showcase the Olympus Micro 4/3rds line of cameras and lenses. Camera bodies and lenses were loaned out to try out. I had already checked out the equipment I was interested in and was by now just using my own gear. The two models wandered around the room and posed in a variety of ways. This model had been sitting in a booth along the large front windows of the bar. I couldn't get any descent shots of her sitting there due to all the other photographers in the way. After most of the others had moved on she stood up and I captured the moment as she posed with the drink in her hand. I thought she looked great standing there, so I grabbed the shot.Editing
All I really did was to convert the photo to Black&White and kick up the contrast to give that "noir" look of the '50s.In my camera bag
I generally carry too much equipment and then rarely change from the lens that is already on the camera. My favorite combination now is my Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II with my M.Zuiko 12-40mm f2.8 Pro lens. I find that my 12-40mm has such a wide range that I rarely change it for any other lens. That lens does very well at close focusing and at 40mm (80 Equivalent) it even draws in subjects further away. If I want more telephoto capabilities I also carry a 40-150mm f2.8 Pro Zoom as well as a 300mm Pro Prime lens.Feedback
Always be prepared to grab a shot even if you think there isn't one there. You never know what will happen or how the circumstance may suddenly change.
