Congratulations on winning the Cats in Windows Challenge!

It's a really lovely, playful shot! The tear in the window covering is a lovely detail - one no doubt Jedi the Kitten is responsible for!

Thank you so much!! He certainly was responsible for that and so much other destruction in his kitten days! Haha

Behind The Lens

Location

In the basement apartment of my ex's house - there was no intricate set-up or lead up to this photo, it was purely in the moment.

Time

This shot occurred mid-afternoon one day when I was still working in a portrait studio and often had days off during the week, so I got a lot of daytime shoot time with the kitties we had together.

Lighting

The light is all coming from the glass block window behind Jedi, and really perfectly diffused by the paper window covering.

Equipment

Canon 60D and an Opteka wide angle lens.

Inspiration

Jedi was the first kitten I ever (somewhat) owned and the first kitten I ever cared for - and he was a riot! I was constantly photographing him the entire time he was a part of my life.

Editing

I edited this with a 'HDR' preset, but brought down the clarity just enough to keep this shot more playful and less crazy intense.

In my camera bag

My Canon 60D, kit lens, 50mm, and a few different zooms along with an Opteka wide angle, but these days most of my shooting is done with the kit lens or my 50mm.

Feedback

If you've got pets with personality - make sure to have a camera ready at all times! Most of the pet photos you see within my profile were totally unplanned and just a matter of happenstance!
