This photo was taken at Hamstead Heath in London, UK. I always enjoyed exploring green spaces around London because of its diverse flora and fauna.Time
I remember packing my wildlife oriented camera bag as the sky was pretty dull for a nice landscape and 2 PM was too early for the hope seeing golden hour spells.Lighting
I was lucky on that particular afternoon, as the light was soft but a bit of disappointment for somebody looking for lit natural light enough to "fast shutter" those action-packed wildlife moments. As said, lucky to have enough light for a resting duck.Equipment
For me, the choice for that day was Canon 5d Mark 3, mounting Canon EF 300mm L f4. Pretty heavy to carry around, excellent to reach with prediction.Inspiration
While walking along the bridge located above the artificial pond, I have spotted a Mandarin Duck resting on one of the perches leaning towards the water. All seen from higher elevation compared to the duck, spectacular leafage reflected on the water with the diagonal angle of the perch on the foreground, inspired me to capture the solitary bird.Editing
I think that not a lot of post-processing is needed for this kind of shot. I had to add and correct a bit of hue and saturation before uploading it on ViewBug.In my camera bag
This normally would depend on where I am heading and what I can find there of my interest. I am a Canon guy with Sony oriented forbidden fantasies, so Canon 5d Mark 3 with zoom lenses for action and wildlife or prime lense such as a 50mm f1.8 for portraits.Feedback
At times we all must try to experiment and look for that right angle or framing until we are fully satisfied with the result.
