Behind The Lens

Location

The location was a river bank near the city Timisoara Romania, a quick drive into nature.

Time

We took the photos in late afternoon, with clear sky.

Lighting

As the sun was still pretty strong, the orientation of the model was intentionally with the sun towards her back, in order to have softer light illuminating her face and hair. My angle towards the model allowed for some bright spots on her hand and sholder, which give a good contrast.

Equipment

I used my trusty Nikon D800E with 50mm 1.8 Nikkor lense, handheld.

Inspiration

While taking different candid photos at this shooting, at one moment the candid expression of the model and the natural yet unique way the wind had blown her hair came together perfectly. :)

Editing

As I took the shot with a in-camera monochrome color setting, the post processing was minimal, mainly to balance and lighten the shadow part of the portrait.

In my camera bag

I carry my camera, an extra bsttery and my 2 fav lenses (50mm 1.8 Nikkor and 24-70mm 2.8 Nikkor) to all my shootings. Sometimes I bring a tripod along, depending on the setting and lighting.

Feedback

When trying to capture a candid yet unique portrait, the relationship with the model is the most important in my opinion, and also the have an eye out for thst special moment or gesture that carries the most meaning in an original way.
