Location
This was taken in Bolgoda 360. A small but unique location focused on positioning as a premier wedding and event venue in Bolgoda, Moratuwa.Time
This was about 4:00p.m. to 5:00p.m. ish when the shoot started. I was just second shooting for my friend cos this was his brothers wedding. I remember the photographer said "go in for a kiss" and this was when I was all ready to take this shot in a split second.Lighting
A quick overview of the place so we have an idea is it was near a lake and there were lots of small trees and plants in the lake as well as on the bank. I knew that I needed to get a nice creamy bohek and the trees/plants gave a good gobo to stop the massive reflection from the water and give me a good bokeh. I then placed myself framing the couple in between two trees that was on the bank of the lake.Equipment
I normally have a Nikon D750 with the traditional 70-200mm f2 VR II lens with a Sirui CPL filter. No extra flash or lights were used.Inspiration
As a photographer I always love to second shoot so I don't need to get the "boring shots" and as I was just second shooting for my friend, Iyanka cooray, who is also a photographer in london. I always challenge myself to use the environment and to look at places and lighting in a way that camera might see it and I have a good understanding of what I need to get. I saw the two trees that were leaning to each other and I knew I would get a beautiful shot. So waited patiently for the couple to sit on the chair. I angled myself and got this shot.Editing
I normally do the usual highlight recovery and slight brightness to the shadows. I also used the Infinite Color Panel, I purchased from one of the greatest international retouches, Pratik Naik. Used the black and white ICP with medium tones and I did a slight dodge and burn.In my camera bag
This is a tough one back then when I was starting... but now I know my favorite would be the 105mm f2.8 VR lens as this has a good focal distance for closeup as well as portraits. I would couple this with the D750 a very versatile body for a good budget. I also have with me the 70-200mm f2.8. Normally I used to have a 24-70mm but every other photographer we meet always has that, so I changed mine and got myself the Tamron 15-30mm f2.8 lens.Feedback
When there is always other photographers I make sure I step up my game to make sure I capture something unique and different. Something that people will look at and go "WOAH". So always try and take a step back from the usual shots taken and look around you, understand light and how it falls on different surfaces. Think differently. Remember we all have the same equipment, it's how we see an image in our own perspective and get that one shot that will make a difference.
