Yes editing hardware can be used excessively, but in whose opinion exactly? On the other hand the story of photography has been one of taking an image and then MAKING a photograph, - darkroom manipulation, cropping etc.If we shoot in RAW today it is in expectation that we wish to make adjustments, large or small. So 'pure' photography is a mirage, never was.
