Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken last December near river side at Hohenzollern Bridge, Cologne, Germany

Time

I reached the location just before sunset, and I was lucky to witness a spectacular view, amazing clouds and light

Lighting

When i saw the cloud cover and wonderful light , i decided to do a long exposure to get the dynamic movement , against the stationary structure of the metallic bridge.

Equipment

It is shot using Nikon D750 , Nikkor 14-24 . I use the Lee SW-150 Big stopper filter

Inspiration

I am mainly interested in shooting cityscapes and I travel a lot. I had seen many shots at this location and it was on my wish-list since long . Last December , I was in Cologne for just a day and happy I could get my dream shot.

Editing

This is one of the images which turned out really good and did not need much of post processing , just some correction of highlights, shadows and contrast

In my camera bag

My main genre of photography is cityscapes and architecture. Other than my Nikon D750 , Nikkor 14-24 and my ND filter kit , I always carry my Sigma 24-70 and Nkikor 70-200 . I like to do travel portraits on and off so 70-200 is something I never leave at home.

Feedback

In my opinion , most important part of shooting cityscapes is finding location. Once I am clear about location and view that I want to capture, I like to look for variations to get a different perspective or result from most images shot at same location, which is of course really difficult as most locations are very popular with photographers :) Other than knowing technique, understanding light conditions , using right equipment and getting composition right , I guess a healthy dose of luck and light is always needed !!
