Behind The Lens

Location

The image was taken at the 2019 Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park down at turn 1.

Time

The image was taken just after 11am.

Lighting

Unfortunately, with a lot of sports you don't get to choose the ideal time for the light but you make the best of what you have.

Equipment

It was shot using a Canon 1 Dx MkII and 200-400 f4 lens with a ND4 filter to keep the aperture open.

Inspiration

I always like some slow shutter panning to capture the speed of motorsport and this was an opportunity to shoot from a location and angle I don't usually use.

Editing

The image was lightly processed in Lightroom to do the monochrome conversion. I don't often do monochrome conversions but this was one that begged for it.

In my camera bag

My equipment will always vary depending on what I'm shooting but, for sports, it will always include at least a Canon 1Dx and 70-200 2.8.

Feedback

Practice your slow shutter panning technique
