A real must-see in the Angkor Wat complex is Phnom Bakheng. This temple is built on a mountain at the end of the 9th century. It gives one of the best sunset views in the area, you can even see Angkor Wat in the distance. Be sure to get there on time, there is only space for about 300 people and it is strictly regulated. There were times that more than 1000 people climbed the temple to enjoy the sunset, however, the construction and the current state of this heritage site is not calculated for that many people. Be aware that (unfortunately) tripods are not allowed!
