Location
This photo was taken on the Wilderness beach, a very popular beach along the Garden Route of South AfricaTime
This was taken 5:00 PM during low tide. The light was soft and beautiful, filtered through the floating clouds. The low tide created broad swaths of fine wet sand acting as a natural mirror and producing an outdoor studio lighting setting - all natural. The photo was taken during an e-shoot session of my daughter and her then fiance shortly before their wedding in April 2015.Lighting
The late afternoon, angled light was partly filtered through soft, low drifting cloud. Combined with the mirror effect from the wet sand of the wide beach it created the almost perfect outdoor lighting setup with no hard shadows and some beautiful reflections from the sky.Equipment
I used my Nikon D800E with the Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8 lens (@ 52mm, ISO 80, 1/250 sec, f8) . It was one of several shots, handheld, shooting from a low angle.Inspiration
I love taking photos of my family and my oldest daughter are very special to me. Doing it for a special occasion in her life motivated me to find a special setting and light conditions and we were not disappointed.Editing
I process all my images in Lightroom CC. For this images very little was needed and only the very basic of sharpness, saturation, WB and levels were adjusted. In my camera bag
I am currently using the very dependable and competent Nikon D800E with the 14-24mm f2.8, 24-70mm f2.8, 70-200mm f2.8, 200-500mm f5.6 Nikkor zooms. Others include the 85mm f1.8 Nikkor, 105mm f2.8 Micro Nikkor and the Nikon SB900 speedlightFeedback
