The Woodpigeon is the UK's largest of the Pigeon family, and one of the fastest flying birds in the world. The Woodpigeon (or Ring Dove), is estimated to have 2.5 million breeding pairs in Europe. Although Woodpigeons are often hunted by bigger Birds of Prey, also killed regularly by people and Cats, the Pigeon population is still growing. This is a concern, as the Woodpigeon has demonstrated the ability to thrive in Farmland areas. This is a sign that Farmland is just getting bigger, and that as a species our own demand is only getting worse.
