The Bandon Lighthouse always reflects many different moods. Perfect light on this one.

Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo along the marina in Bandon Oregon.

Time

This photo was taken during sunset when the colors tend to pop.

Lighting

I wasn’t in an area where I could get the sun setting in the photo, but I was fortunate to be in an area where there was lots of color in the sky.

Equipment

I used a 19mm lens on a Sony A6000 camera, mounted on a tripod. I also used a 3 stop ND filter to slow the shutter speed in order to get the blurred clouds.

Inspiration

I was inspired by the color in the sky, the simplicity of the lighthouse and because it was windy, I hoped to achieve the blurred clouds with a long exposure.

Editing

I alway shoot in RAW and post process in Lightroom and Photoshop.

In my camera bag

I own a Sony A6000 and a take only two lenses. A 19mm and a 55-210mm zoom. I also use the occasional ND filter.

Feedback

Wait for sunrise or sunset, try and compose for simplicity and learn how to edit.
