Behind The Lens

Location
This photo was taken in a small one room apartment that Julia had rented for her stay in Frankfurt - not the largest "studio" that I've had the oportunity to take photos in, though it clearly did the job :-)
Time
The photo was taken in mid-morning, all natural light. Somewhat forced, as the remote sender and receiver for my flash didn't want to work.
Lighting
As mentioned - available light, with Julia sitting sideways next to one of the windows.
Equipment
I took the photo with my Nikon D850, using my Sigma 35mm Art lens. Still one of my favorite lenses!
Inspiration
I wanted a couple of photos without Julia looking - more or less - straight into the lens, and since it had been a quite bright day, I also wanted to give her the possibility to rest her eyes a bit. I walked around the room to find a perspective - and to get something to drink as well - and found this perspective, which I liked.
Editing
The one really obvious thing that I did? Convert the photo to black-and-white. I added some grain on top of that - and that's really it, maybe aside from some smaller adjustment to brightness and contrast.
In my camera bag
Typically, I have way too much stuff in my backpack. Camera, several batteries, more lenses than I want to mention - it'll usually be 10 kilos or more - and I'm talking about when I'm traveling, so I get to carry the load on my back the whole day. I guess I may just be a bit crazy ;-)
Feedback
Explore other perspectives. Walk around. Take a view from an angle that you usually wouldn't be looking at. There'll usually be something out there that you haven't thought about - and that's really worth it!
