JMT DAY 23 - FIN DOME AND BEYOND
Fin Dome and beyond
I noticed a peak jutting up high beyond the bottom slope of a mountain sitting next to Dollar Lake. I couldn’t tell what it was then, but later I learned that it was Mt. Rixford (12887 ft). I love the view of the ridge that ran along the basin toward Fin Dome and then all the way to this less frequently visited mountain by JMT’ers.
And lied Rae Lakes below.
I knew I wasn’t far away, but still over 2 miles away to the campsites at Rae Lakes, so I had to get on with the rest of the afternoon.
After getting the shots that I wanted, I packed up my gear and put my pack back on my back. It didn’t feel any lighter. And another 400 feet in elevation was waiting for me.
Trying to burn it into my brain, I turned and looked at the view one last time.
