The Griffon Vulture in Bulgaria is a strictly protected species. It is found in the Eastern Rhodopes Mountain, where about 30 pairs nest. The species was considered to have disappeared from the country in the 70s of the 20th century. After serious targeted conservation efforts, the population is growing and today it can be said that it is stabilized.
