After foaling, we usually bring the foal up by the mare's head so she doesn't jump up too quickly, less she get crampy. (You really don't want a 1K+ lb mare bouncing off the walls with cramps!) This time, the foal pulled himself closer to the mare's head and nestled under the arch of her neck. She, in turn, encircled him. A special type of moment... and I had to scramble to take the shot!
