Behind The Lens

this photo was taken at Ecola state park at Cannon Beach Oregon
My partner Jen and I travel down to Cannon beach over the valentines weekend. we got up before sun rise and went out to Ecola state park. It was a frigid morning; the entire park was frozen and covered in ice. The previous 2 weeks the oregon coast got its first snow fall in years and all the mountains on the coast had a coating of snow.
the morning sun was just creeping over coastal mountains and lighting iconic haystack rock from the side.
this was shot on a Canon 80d, canon 70-200mm f/4 L series lens mk1. 1/100TH F/8 ISO 100. I pretty much always use a tripod for 90percent of my shots. I had just recent upgraded my tripod to a Vangard Veo 2 carbon fiber travel tripod.
Some of our most memorable pictures have been taken at ecola state park. The Oregon coast is our favorite place to travel to for photography. all of the times we had been to Ecola we had never attempted to shoot at sunrise.
This was shot in raw, so naturally i edited this lightroom doing the usual contrast, white balance, hsl, dehaze ect.
In my camera bag
The bag that holds it all is a Shimoda 30L bag in blue. I shoot a Canon 80d which i picked up used the year before. my go to lens is the 70-200mm L series f/4 mk1. This is my go to lens and is mounted to my camera in the bag at all times. I also have the canon f/1.8 50mm gives me great bokeh, canon 10-18mm f/3.5 and the 18-135 f/3.5-5.6 kit lens. i have a yongnuo yn-560 series 4 flash. i carry 2 filters with me. i have a hoya 6 stop neutral density filter and a hoya polarizer. i use a remote trigger that comes in handy for night photography and light painting.
get out there and shoot. i wish i had the drive to get up early and shoot more often but it only seems to happen while on vacation and not always.
