Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken During the summer at the California State Fair. I had just finished walking the Flower Arrangements section. I was drawn to this particular arrangement due to the warm and cool contrast of colors.

Time

I remember it being extremely hot on this day of the fair. Around 1:30pm I remember looking to get out of the heat and find a cool building, that’s when I found the Flower Arrangement exhibit.

Lighting

Lighting has very abundant but difficult because they were CFLs. So I tried to use it to my advantage instead of fighting it.

Equipment

I used my Canon 6D camera attached with a EF 24-105mm L series lens. Plus the Canon battery grip for extra hand space.

Inspiration

The colors, it was the colors. The reflection on the steel table changed the way the colors looked. That cold blueish hue drew me in.

Editing

Shoot in raw format all day every day. There wasn’t much I wanted to change or manipulate to this photo.

In my camera bag

Canon 6D with a hand strap and battery pack grip. Attached is my L series EF 24-105mm lens. I also use a Extreme Plus 128 memory card.

Feedback

Don’t be discouraged by bad lighting or difficult light settings. Use it, try to make some from nothing. Opportunity will disguise itself, it’s up to you to find it.
