Behind The Lens

Location

This photo shot in Ft. Lauderdale... technically "Lauderdale by the Sea" a small beach town that is beautiful.

Time

Shot at sunset, with the sun setting behind me.

Lighting

What makes this photo pop is the fact that the sun is setting behind me and bouncing off the big puffy clouds which illuminates the water with a golden glow.

Equipment

Shot with my old Nikon D90 and a Tamron 11-16mm lens... at 11mm for that awesome expansive perspective.

Inspiration

A beautiful time with family... and it's nice to look back at this scene and remember the wonderful time we had.

Editing

I'm a big fan of minimal processing and I believe this has light contrast, shadow, and highlight adjustment.

In my camera bag

These days... I carry a Nikon D810, 18mm, 35mm, and 85mm. I've always been a fan of primes... I believe it makes you look at a scene with more focus, and you really work for the composition. If you haven't shot prime... I challenge you to do so. It will make you a stronger photographer.

Feedback

WIDE! This photo really shines due to the wide angle. I am close to the pier on my left and the water is about to hit my feet. The wide angle lens gives the pier height and enormous length as it melts into the Atlantic Ocean... far from the wave about to cover my toes.
