Behind The Lens

Location

The image was taken in a studio environment in Toronto, Canada. I am a self-taught photographer that enjoys all aspects of photography

Time

The image was taken in the evening on May 17, 2018. This model was a pleasure to work with. One of my favourite images taken of her that evening

Lighting

With this image I used a 2 light system with a V-flat. More specifically, a backlight with a key light. Aperture used weas f5 at 1/160 with an ISO value of 100

Equipment

I used a canon 5D markIV with the Tamron 85mm f1.8 VC

Inspiration

She was a very photographic person. She just knew how to move and pose in front of a camera. I wanted shapes and sensing what I was looking for, she moved in that pose and I immediately pressed that shutter button.

Editing

I used Lightroom for minor editing. Highlights, shadows, contrast.

In my camera bag

My portrait lenses i normally use are the Tamron 45mm f1.8 VC, Tamron 85mm f1.8 VC and the canon 70-200mm f2.8 IS mk iii

Feedback

The one issue that matters the most above all is communication between the photographer and the model. Explaining what you want and communicating it to the model effectively speaks volumes. Also making her feel comfortable and also seeking her advice as well.
