This photo was taken in my backyard in Pearland, Texas, USA.Time
I took this photo in the morning. When it is good weather, I often sit in my garden with my camera and watch the birds, flowers and butterflies.Lighting
My backyard has a beautiful view of the sunset and because of that, I planted my garden for the morning light, and established a few bird feeders to have good natural sunlight during the morning hours.Equipment
This shot was taken by a Nikon D850 camera with a Sigma 150-600mm lens. I also used a Benro B2 tripod.Inspiration
My backyard overlooks a natural pond and this attracts many species of birds. Also, we have bird feeders that attract so many different birds. Since 2012, I have taken pictures of over 40 different species of birds, including a few raptors. But usually, raptors do not come this close. I was fortunate to capture a juvenile Cooper's Hawk resting on our fence after it unsuccessfully tried to attack other birds on the feeder.Editing
I used my Lightroom just to crop the picture. In my camera bag
I always pack my Nikon D850, Sigma 150-600mm, Tokina Macro 100 F2.8D AT-X Pro, Tamron SP 24-70mm F/2.8 Di VC USD G2, Nikon Speedlight SB-600, Monopod Benro MP-96 n6, tripod Benro B2 in my bag Lowerpro ProTactic 350 AW.Feedback
Try to be in a position that your object will be in good light. Be patient and invisible in silence. With a little bit of luck, you will be in the right place at the right time!
