On the way into Mt Cook National ParkTime
Late morningLighting
Sun is back-lighting rain showers created by strong westerly winds over the alpsEquipment
Canon 5DII and zoomed out EOS USM 70-200mm f.2,8 lensInspiration
Knowledge that a moody effect could be created from back-lighting even during midday.Editing
Image was processed as B&W, highlights recovered and overall tone adjusted for 'Ansel Adams' style. Selected areas were then adjusted to optiise moody effects and balance out overall toningIn my camera bag
Very little, limited by aeroplane carry on bag size.Feedback
Try to go hunting just on approaching or clearing storm, when good change of broken cloud and atmospheric lighting. Mountains can create the most drama.. Dress for the adverse weather.
